30 LIMOUSINE, CHARTER & TOUR FEBRUARY 2014 WWW.LCTMAG.COM COVER STORY: PROFILE Grech Motors Gains Ground In Bus Market Bus and limousine builder Ed Grech teams up with new VP of Sales & Marketing A.J. Thurber to launch major vehicle market plans. Compiled by LCT Staf /Cover and article photos by Lyle Okihara W hen you have been in busi- ness for 30 years in an indus- try with ups and downs, what separates companies that f ourish from those that fail is a consistent commitment to quality, innovation and customer service. So when Don Brown Bus Sales searched for a partner company, legendary coachbuilder Ed Grech was at the top of the list. Today, the partnership extends Don Brown's distribution, service and client base, creating the leading manufacturer distributor network in the industry. "It's been an honor to have Don Brown Bus Sales represent our products as our exclusive Northeast distributor," CEO Ed Grech says. "The company has been a key component in our mission to become a brand that is regarded as the highest quality luxury shuttle buses produced to- day. Don Brown's integrity and unwaver- ing goal of complete customer satisfac- tion is why we formed a partnership." Grech Motors' new vice president of sales and marketing, A.J. Thurber, bridges the bond between Don Brown and Grech. "Don Brown Bus Sales has searched extensively for a trusted partner that can support their distribution and client base with the equivalent level of incomparable service and support that is synonymous with their brand," Thurber says. "Several manufacturers in the mar- ket place have fallen short to meet Don Brown Bus Sales needs and their clients' demands to provide the level of warranty support, parts and service availability that Grech Motors provides." The synergies go much further, how- ever. In 2009, as general sales manager, A.J. Thurber launched the luxury shuttle and limo division for Don Brown Bus Sales. Given the relationship between Don Brown Bus Sales and Grech Motors, it is a logical step for Thurber to advance his career by moving from Don Brown Bus Sales into the manufacturing world with Grech Motors, while keeping the two companies connected. "We are thrilled to have A.J. Thurber on board with the Grech Motors team as our new VP of sales and marketing," Grech says. "I have worked side by side with A.J. for the last 15 months and have never seen anyone with his work ethic or the level of commitment he has to his customer 24/7. With his extensive knowledge of our industry and products coupled with his energy and reputation he is truly in a league of his own. In ad- dition to working closely with the Don Brown team and our fantastic sales staff, A.J. will lead the charge with rolling out some very innovative sales programs that will further illustrate our commitment to our customers and the industry." Thurber sees much potential for Grech Motors: "The value in a Grech bus is mul- tifaceted. Grech Motors has an industry leading focus on customer support, quality, design, safety and compliance. The focus on quality begins with having the absolute highest levels of standard equipment." One of the most notable features of the Grech buses is the signature panoramic front viewing window, which has become synonymous with the brand. Thurber cites other amenities: Standard roof top air conditioning, electric plug-style door, wood-look composite f ooring and frame- less coach windows. He underscores how Grech buses are backed by what he refers to as the most comprehensive industry warranty plan for a bus that starts with a 5-year/up to 100,000-mile body and structure warranty. That is supported by 30-year veteran mechanics and specialists available to tackle any issue 24/7/365 with a road service crew available to be dis- patched to client locations when needed. "The absolute highest level of quality is a result of state-of-the-art engineering and a build process that is a streamlined eff cient automotive production line," Thurber says.
