LIMOSCENE I 11.2012 AWARDS, ACHIEVEMENTS & ACCOLADES A LOOK AT PEOPLE, PRODUCTS, EVENTS, AND MILESTONES IN THE WORLD OF CHAUFFEURED AND CHARTER TRANSPORTATION LONGTIME NY LIMO COMPANY GAINS WOMAN/MINORITY BUSINESS STATUS WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — LSW Chauffeured Transportation (LSW), which changed its name as of Sept. 10 from Limousine Service of Westchester, recently became one of the fi rst certifi ed minor- ity- and woman-owned limousine services in Westchester County, N.Y. LSW Chauffeured Transportation was certifi ed by the National Minority Supplier Development LSW CEO Melissa Thornton (pictured with a new client, Steve Mabus, general manager of the Doral Arrowwood) has been busy this year securing new business opportunities for her suburban New York City chauffeured service. Council, Inc. (NMSDC) as a bona fi de minority-owned and operated business. Certifi cation is awarded on the basis of submitted documentation and a personal interview. NMSDC, one of the leading business membership organizations in the U.S., links corporate America to certifi ed mi- nority-owned businesses for the purpose of expanding opportunities. A minority-owned business is a for-profi t enterprise, regardless of size, physically located in the U.S. or its trust territories, which is owned, operated and controlled by minority group members, namely U.S. citizens who are Asian, Black, Hispanic, or Native American. LSW will be listed in the databases of the New York and New Jersey Minority Supplier Development Council databases and the NMSDC Minority Business Information Systems. LSW also was recently certifi ed by the Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), one of the nation's leading advocates of women-owned businesses as suppliers to America›s cor- porations. LSW achieved WBENC Certifi cation by qualifying as a women-owned, operated and controlled business through completing a formal documentation and site visit process. Led by CEO MELISSA THORNTON, LSW Chauffeured Transportation is a full-service chauffeured transportation company founded in 1978. Based in White Plains, N.Y., LSW runs a fl eet of 30 cars, sedans, SUVs, buses, and minicoaches and a global network of more than 550 affi liate providers. SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — GPS Insight was presented with a Gold Stevie Award in the New Product or Service of the Year/Software As- set Management Solution category, and the People's Choice Award for Favorite Asset Management Solution at the 10th Annual American Business Awards on Sept. 17 in San Francisco. These are the third and fourth major achievements for the GPS Insight Fleet Tracking Solution this year, to include Inc. 5000 and Red Herring. The American Busi- ness Awards are the nation's premier business awards pro- gram. All organizations operating in the U.S. are eligible to submit nominations — public and private, for-profi t and non-profi t, large and small. Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 270 executives nationwide who participated in the judg- ing process this year. The People's Choice Stevie Awards for Favorite New Products are a feature of The American Business Awards in which the general public can vote for their favorite new products and services of the year. More than 98,000 votes were cast in 30 product categories in this year's vote. All new products and services honored in the ABA's new product categories were included in people's choice voting. TOP NEW JERSEY OPERATION GETS SAFETY AWARD A LUCKY SEVENTH TIME RED BANK, N.J. — Red Bank Limo was recently awarded the annual Safety Excellence Award by Lancer Insurance, a leading auto insurer in the tri- state area. The Safety Excellence Award for 2011 marks the 7th year in a row that Red Bank Limo has won the award. Red Bank Limo's outstanding safety record places it amongst the safest limousine com- panies in the country. To qualify, companies must demonstrate safety excellence in all operations for the previous cal- endar year. In 2011, Red Bank Limo, owned by operator and 2010 LCT Operator of the Year Award winner BILL ATKINS, had a perfect safety and reliability record. N.C. COMPANY GARNERS ELITE SAFETY STATUS CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rose Chauffeured Transportation, Ltd re- cently became a TSX-approved safer motor carrier, having success- fully completed the Transportation Safety Exchange Comprehensive Review (TSX-CR), the most comprehensive review in the industry. Transportation Safety Exchange (TSX) is the ground transportation industry's only independent rating organization that inspects, moni- tors and reports the safety performance of motor carriers. "This dis- tinction demonstrates that we have implemented the highest standards of safety," said TOM HOLDEN, director of operations. "Now, with TSX approval, we can be recognized for achieving and maintain- ing the most stringent safety standards." Operations director Tom Holden joins operators H.A.
